ABOUT THE BOOK: Lin Kuen is the definitive guide book to the all important mother form of the Northern Style Eagle Claw System. Designed as a study aid, this high quality, wire bound, 84 page limited edition manual is especially helpful as each move of the form is demonstrated by Grandmaster Shum Leung, with step-by-step written instructions. Also included are pictures and detailed descriptions of all claws employed in Northern Eagle Claw.

The form Lin Kuen traces its roots back to the famous general, Ngok Fei, who created a series of 108 locking hand techniques based on the original foundation of Shaolin Kung Fu. These 108 techniques form the basis of the Eagle Claw System. Over the generations Eagle Claw developed into one of the most effective and complex kung fu systems. In the early 20th century, the famous Eagle Claw master Chan Tzi Ching designed Lin Kuen, a single practice form that included all of Ngok Fei's original 108 locking hands techniques, strung together in fifty rows of short sets of repetetive movements. It is called the mother form of Eagle Claw because all Eagle Claw techniques can be learned from this one form.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Grandmaster Shum Leung has authored several books and produced numerous instructional videos. He began studying martial arts at the age of eight with his godfather, Ng Wai Nung, who had a school in their hometown, Kowloon. Shum opened the first Eagle Claw school in the US in New York City in 1974. Since then, thousands of students have learned the Eagle Claw System. Today, Shum's Eagle Claw Kung Fu has spread all over the world, as Grandmaster Shum's students carry on the Eagle Claw legacy.
